Solar Projects

Solar energy is known to be an important energy source for developing countries like India. In our country, optimum utilization of solar energy could not only lead to savings in conventional energy but also result in many indirect benefits. HPPCL, apart from Hydro Power Development, intends to diversify its power development activities in other areas such as Non conventional renewable sources of energy like Solar, Wind, etc.

In view of the above, HPPCL is developing Berra Dol Solar Power Project in Village Beharda, P.O. Bassi, Tehsil Shri Naina Devi Ji, District Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. It is a pilot solar project being developed by a Government organization in the state. The capacity of the project is 5 MW and the projected energy production per year from the project is approximately 8.39 MU’s. Poly crystalline type of PV modules have been used for the project with fixed tilt. String Inverters of 50 kW capacity are being used in the project.

The Power Purchase Agreement for Berra Dol Solar Power Project has also been signed and the power generated from the project would be sold to HPSEBL. The nearest access by road is the Ganguwal-manali road, by rail is the Anandpur Sahib Railway station and by air is the Chandigarh airport.
